iHi L♥VABLES!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I am excited about this post because it is the first time that I will be sharing one of my DIYs/crafting projects with you. I absolutely LOVE arts and crafts. It's something that I love to do in my spare time. From doodling to painting to coloring to crocheting, you name it (in my Ms. Caesar voice), I love it! Last month, I was searching for a way to give one of my family members a gift for Christmas because I didn't have the funds. So I thought to myself, I may not have the money, but I do have the talent that God gave me, which is crocheting. I love crocheting!! It's a great pastime for me and somewhat therapeutic. I learned how to crochet in 10th grade from a girl in my art class named A. Myrick. She taught me the basics and the rest is history. I also learned more stitches in Home Economics during the second semester of my 10th grade year. I have made slippers, blankets, beanies, baby booties, ear warmers, and more. I have given several of my projects as gifts to people, but often forgot to take a picture of my work. Anyways, back to the story. My cousin is an avid football fan, especially for the the Falcons. (Disclaimer: I don't like sports, especially football because I don't understand it lol. Please don't beat me up lol.) She told me she wanted a Falcons' ugly sweater for Christmas, but I couldn't afford it. So I decided that for her gift I would make her a Falcons' scarf. I found a pattern on Pinterest that I thought would be perfect for her. Now, I did make some changes to the pattern so that I could "make it my own". Now, this project from start to finish took me about 3 days. I would like to think, I was running on borrowed time because I didn't think about it until the last minute. I started on Wednesday and ended on Saturday night. I wrapped her gift and prayed that she didn't think less of me because it was a homemade/handmade gift. Other members of my family kept reminding that it was the thought that counted. On Christmas Day, we exchanged gifts, she slowly opened up the box and said "these are the right colors", unfolded it, and shrieked with excitement, "awww this is so nice. Thank you so much". So, it was a success!!! Yay me!! As usual, I forgot to take a picture of the original one I made; however, she asked me to make another one for someone else. On the first one, it had the Falcons' emblem with the word Falcons in white with a black background, and red border. For the second one, I decided to do it a little different so it wouldn't be the same as the first scarf. This time I remembered to take a picture. I am very proud of myself and may try to make beanies using the same pattern or pattern from different teams. I think I made this scarf right on time. It'll give my family members a chance to wave their scarves in the air during the game for the Falcons vs. Packers, and possibly the Super Bowl. Whatever the case maybe, I must say again that I am very proud of myself. I will continue share my progress on other projects as I go. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to contact me. Also, if you would like a scarf or beanie or some other crocheted item, do not hesitate to inquire about it. ~Jae ♥ #HappyCrocheting #CreativelyMe #SuperBowl2K17
